Earnings Roundup: Gander Mountain, Plato Learning Tuesday, September 1, 3:19 PM ET
Gander Mountain (GMTN) announced second quarter results.
The outdoor life retailer reported a loss of $7.3 million or 30 cents per share, off from 20 cents per share in the same quarter last year.
Sales dropped 2 percent to $248.4 million, retail sales were off 1 percent to $210.8 million. Same-store sales dropped 2.4 percent.
Gander shares are down almost twenty percent.
Plato Learning (TUTR) announced positive third quarter results this morning.
Lower operating expenses and subscriber growth helped the education software developer turn a profit for the quarter, after posting a loss last year.
The company earned $184,000 or a penny per share, compared to a 9 cents per share loss in 2008.
Sales dropped 10.2 percent to $16.7 million, but the company cut operating expenses to $9.4 million. The cost of subscriptions, license fees and services fell 23 percent.
But on a positive note, the company said subscription orders grew 33 percent to $24.5 million and gross margins for subscriptions increased 12 percent from last year.
Shares are up a little less than one percent this morning.
