Goldman Could Reportedly Gain $1B in CIT Bankruptcy Monday, October 5, 10:07 AM ET
Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) could reportedly stand to gain $1 billion if CIT Group (CIT) files for Chapter 11.
According to the Financial Times, the $3 billion Goldman provided to keep CIT solvent before would garner the big payout if CIT fails to stay out of bankruptcy, which it is trying to avoid.
Goldman’s $1 billion payday would contrast sharply with the loss to U.S. taxpayers: $2.3 billion.
