Business intelligence software provider MicroStrategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) announced its third quarter results, with earnings coming in at a dollar 73 per share, up from 90 cents in the same quarter last year. Total revenues increased 15% year over year, helped by a 39% increase in license revenue. Shares advanced 17% early Friday.
Family dining and entertainment company CEC Entertainment (NYSE:CEC), operator of Chuck E. Cheese's locations, earned 55 cents per share for the third quarter, up from 43 cents in Q3 of 2008. Same store sales were down 3.1%, hurt in part by the swine flu scare. The company said its Board authorized the repurchase of an additional 200 million dollars worth of stock, representing about 40% of the company's total market capitalization. Shares were trading more than 14% higher.
Cosmetics company Bare Escentuals (NASDAQ:BARE) posted a third quarter profit of 24 cents per share, which compares to 25 cents in the same quarter last year. Net sales were up 4% year over year. Shares advanced 15 and a half percent.
And gaming technology supplier Bally Technologies (NYSE:BYI) turned a quarterly profit of 53 cents per share, up a penny from the same quarter last year. Total revenue was down about 17% year over year, but gaming operations revenue increased to record levels. Looking ahead, the company boosted its fiscal 2010 earnings guidance to a range of 2.30 to 2.55 per share. In Friday trading, shares of Bally were about 8% higher.
