GameStop To Hire 15,000 Holiday Workers Tuesday, October 27, 11:34 AM ET
GameStop (NYSE:GME) said today it will hire 15,000 part time workers, for now through the holiday season.
The number of workers increases total employee headcount by 46 percent.
This year's seasonal hiring efforts are equal to holiday staff increases in 2007 and 2008.
GameStop said reductions in the price's of Sony's (SNY) PlayStation 3, Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) XBox 360, and Nintendo's Wii, as well as big game launches, are expected to drive heavy holiday traffic.
GameStop has 6,244 stores in 17 countries.
GameStop shares trading higher by about one and a half percent Tuesday morning.
