Merger Drama: Agrium Hikes Bid for CF Industries Thursday, November 5, 10:34 AM ET
There is more merger drama to tell you about in the fertilizer industry this morning.
Agrium (NYSE:AGU) hiked it hostile takeover offer for CF Industries (NYSE:CF) today, in what it says is its best and final offer.
Agrium offered an additional $5 per share, for a total bid of $45 per share in cash plus one common share of Agrium for each CF share. That amounts to about $93 per CF share, or a total value of more than $4.5 billion.
CF itself is engaged in a hostile takeover attempt for Terra Industries (TRA), which rejected a sweetened bid from CF yesterday as inadequate and opportunistic.
