Pfizer and Protalix Make Deal on Gaucher’s Treatment Tuesday, December 1, 10:59 AM ET
Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) and Protalix (AMEX:PLX) announced today they made an agreement to develop and market a Gaucher’s disease treatment.
Pfizer will pay $60 million upfront to gain worldwide licensing rights to the drug, although Protalix will maintain rights in its home country of Israel. Pfizer will also make milestone payments of up to $55 million.
The drug, Taliglucerase alfa, replaces enzymes that Gaucher’s disease has destroyed. The disease can cause liver and neurologic problems. The Food and Drug Administration has granted the drug orphan
