Apple Inc. Announces Apple TV, Users Can Access Netflix

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced the new Apple TV which offers a way to watch HD movies and TV shows on an HD TV for $99. Apple TV users can choose from an online selection of HD movies to rent, including first run movies for $4.99, and an online selection of HD TV show episodes to rent from ABC, ABC Family, Fox, Disney Channel and BBC America for 99 cents.
Apple TV also gives access to the Netflix streaming catalog for Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) subscribers, and the ability to browse and search, rate content, add to or remove from queue, or instantly stream straight to an HD TV. Apple TV users can access millions of YouTube videos, more than 200,000 podcasts, 4,000 Internet radio stations and personal photos from MobileMe and Flickr.
Apple shares are trading up 2.7% and Netflix is trading up 6.5%.
