Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) said today it has agreed to acquire AirTran Holdings (AAI) in a stock and cash deal.
The transaction values AirTran at $7.69 per share, for a total deal value of $3.4 billion including AirTran debt and aircraft operating leases.
Shares of AirTran are up nearly 61%.
China Nepstar Chain Drugstore (NYSE:NPD) today announced that it will hold its Annual General Meeting of Shareholders for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009 on October 29, 2010.
China Nepstar Chain Drugstore shares are higher by 25.6%.
Unilever (NYSE:UN) said today it has agreed to acquire Alberto Culver Company (ACV) for $3.7 billion in cash.
Shares of Alberto Culver are up about 20%.
BPZ Resources (NYSE:BPZ) shares are down today after providing an update on the CX11-19D EWT Permit and Albacora A-17D testing operations. Shares are lower by 11.3%. And Kingold Jewelry (NASDAQ:KGJI) shares are down 10.7% on about 1.5 times normal daily trading volume.
