IIH Ultra-Concentrated in Verisign, Akamai Technologies

The Internet Infrastructure HOLDRS ETF (IIH) is ultra-concentrated. This ETF has approximately 90% of its holdings in two stocks: Verisign (NASDAQ:VRSN) and Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ:AKAM), with about another 5% in RealNetworks (NASDAQ:RNWK).
Year-to-date this ETF is up about 44.5%, but it is important to keep in mind that the ETF's performance is largely linked to the performance of two or three companies.
Verisign is up over 30% YTD, Akamai Technologies is higher by 89% YTD and RealNetworks is down 7.8% over the period. As move the key components in a non-diversified ETF, so moves the ETF.
