On Wednesday, 29 of the 30 components of the PHLX Semiconductor Index are in the red, with the sole standout being Intel (NASDAQ:INTC). This has the Semiconductor HOLDRs ETF (AMEX:SMH) trading lower by 1.5% today and the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bear 3X ETF (AMEX:SOXS) gaining 5.5%.
Notable components in the index today include Atheros Communications, Inc. (ATHR), lower by 3.1% and Cirrus Logic, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) off 4.7%. It should be noted, however, the index gained almost 2.3% during Tuesday's rally, so this could just be profit-taking by the traders.
