Technology sector ETFs are showing solid gains on Friday.
The PowerShares QQQ (QQQQ) is up about 1.25 percent in midday trading, driven by Apple, which represents about 20% of the funds overall assets. Apple shares are up nearly 2.5 percent midday, a day after the company announced that it will be selling the iPad at Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and AT&T (NYSE:T) retail outlets on October 28.
Shares of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) are also giving technology ETFs a boost today, with the stock up nearly 11 percent, after beating earnings expections.
Other technology ETFs getting a boost today include the iShares US Technology ETF (AMEX:IYW) up over half a percent, the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (AMEX:XLK) up nearly one percent, and the iShares Dow Jones U.S. Technology Sector Index Fund, up about 1.3 percent.
