ADI Posts Earnings After the Bell Monday

Chip maker Analog Devices (NASDAQ:ADI) posted fiscal fourth quarter earnings late yesterday of $225 million, or $0.73 per share, compared to $106 million, or $0.36 per share, in the same quarter last year. Revenue increased 35%, to $770 million. Both earnings per share and revenue beat analyst expectations, but an earnings forecast of $0.63 to $0.67 per share for the fist fiscal quarter doesn’t seem to be impressing investors, as shares are lower today.
Analog Devices is one of the top five holdings of the Semiconductor HOLDRS (AMEX:SMH), at 6.76% of the fund. Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) is the top stock in the portfolio, at 22.47% of the total, followed by Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) at 21%, and Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) at 10.71%. Altera (NASDAQ:ALTR) rounds out the top five holdings at 6.48% of the fund, which is trading also lower on Tuesday.
