Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ:AKAM) and Limelight Networks (NASDAQ:LLNW) shares are trading lower today after Oppenheimer made calls in the content delivery network sector.
Oppenheimer downgraded Akamai from outperform to perform, and cut Limelight from perform to underperform.
Oppenheimer said price competition could increase in the sector following Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) having divided its content delivery business between companies last week, with Level 3 (NYSE:LVLT) as a primary carrier.
Akamai shares are trading down 6% Monday, while Limelight shares trade over 11%.
Akamai is the #2 holding of the Internet Infrastructure HOLDRS (IIH) fund, at 38.56% of the fund. Verisign (VRSN) is the top holding, at 52.55% of the portfolio, which is trading lower by 2.8% today.
