After the last trading session late Wednesday, Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced it is making minor changes to its 787 Dreamliner following a fire aboard a test flight of the super jumbo jet. The company said it determined the fault began as a short circuit or an electrical arc in the P100 power distribution panel, most likely caused by foreign debris. The design changes will improve the protection of the panel, and improve fault protection. Boeing said it will update its program schedule for the Dreamliner over the next few weeks, a program which is already several years delayed.
Boeing shares are trading in the pre-market session on Friday morning.
At 7.4% of the fund, Boeing is the second-largest holding of the Dow Jones U.S. Aerospace & Defense Index Fund (AMEX:ITA). United Technologies (NYSE:UTX) is the top stock in the fund, at 9.17% of the total, followed by General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) at 6.16%, Precision Castparts (NYSE:PCP) at 5.94%, and Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) at 5.52%.
