BDX Increases Dividend

Becton Dickinson (NYSE:BDX) has increased its quarterly dividend by nearly 11% to $0.41 per share. The dividend is payable on December 31 to shareholders of record as of December 10. Becton Dickinson said its annual dividend for the 2011 fiscal year would be $1.64 at this rate. Despite the dividend increase, shares are trading lower Tuesday with the general markets.
The company is 2.22% of the iShares MSCI USA ESG Select Social Index Fund (AMEX:KLD), which invests in companies with the goal to maximize exposure to positive environmental, social and governance factors. Top holdings include Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) at 3.63%, Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) at 3.2%, and IBM (NYSE:IBM) at 2.4% of the portfolio.
