Newmont Mining Posts Gain, Stock Lower on Production Forecast

Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM) posted a 38% gain in third quarter profits Tuesday, however the stock is lower by 2.6% on their production forecast.
The Gold Miners ETF (AMEX:GDX) is trading up 0.25%. It is comprised of 10.11% Newmont stock. Newmont is its third largest holding, with Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX) comprising 15.94% of the fund, and Goldcorp (NYSE:GG) with 11.10%, rounding out the top three.
The Global Gold and Previous Metals Portfolio (NASDAQ:PSAU) contains a similar mix in its top holdings, and is trading up 0.27% Tuesday.
The metal itself is trading about flat, with the iShares Gold Trust (AMEX:IAU) up 0.1%, the SPDR Gold Shares (AMEX:GLD) up 0.1%, and DB Gold Fund (AMEX:DGL) higher by 0.06%.
