Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:REGN) shares are trading higher today after it and Bayer HealthCare announced positive results in two phase three trials of a treatment for the neovascular form of age-related macular degeneration.
Regeneron and Bayer’s VEGF Trap-Eye met its endpoints of maintained or improved vision over 52 weeks compared to ranibizumab, the current standard of care.
Regeneron shares are higher by 15.5% Monday.
It is 3.64% of the SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (AMEX:XBI), trading down 0.4% today.
Pharmasset (VRUS) is the top stock in the fund, at 5.15%, while Theravance (NASDAQ:THRX) is the second-largest holding, at 5.05%.
Myriad Genetics (NASDAQ:MYGN) is 4.43% of the fund, while Alexion Pharmaceuticals (ALXN) is 4.14%, and United Therapeutics (UTHR) is 4.12% of the portfolio.
