Sara Lee (NYSE:SLE) said today it has agreed to acquire Brazilian Coffee business Cafe Damasco, for a purchase price representing a multiple of around one time annual sales.
Total net sales of Cafe Damasco were about $60 million in 2009.
Cafe Damasco has a leading position in the region of southern Brazil, and Sara Lee said the acquisition will create a stronger foothold for it in Brazil.
Sara Lee called itself a market leader in Brazilian coffee, and noted Brazil is the #1 coffee producing country and the #2 coffee consuming country.
Sara Lee shares are trading down 0.6% Monday.
It is 2.85% of the Dynamic Mid Cap Value Portfolio (PWP).
Top holdings in the fund include Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL), at 3.78% of the fund, Macy’s (NYSE:M), at 3.71% of the portfolio, and CA (NASDAQ:CA), at 3.29%. Goodrich (GR) is 3.49% of the fund, followed by Principal Financial Group (PFG), 3.32% of the total.
