French oil giant Total (NYSE:TOT) is reportedly in talks to build a petrochemical plant in Qatar. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Total is negotiated a plan to build a $6 billion plant with state-run Qatar Petroleum. The Journal also reported that it looks as though Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) has pulled out of the proposed venture. Both TOT and XOM are trading lower this morning as the US markets look to open lower today.
At 5.13% of the portfolio, Total is the sixth-largest holding in the Europe 2001 HOLDRS (EKH). Millicom International Cellular (MICC) is the top stock in the fund at 12.63%, followed by Ryanair (NASDAQ:RYAAY) at 8.32%.
