This Thursday is going to be an interesting day for the markets. Tech giants Research In Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:RIMM) and Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) are slated to release their quarterly earnings reports and both companies are major components of the First Trust NASDAQ-100 Technology Index Fund.
The First Trust NASDAQ-100 Technology Index Fund (NASDAQ:QTEC), which holds nearly 6% of its total assets in Research in Motion and Oracle, will stand to be affected by Thursday’s earnings reports. According to an analyst from FBR Capital Markets, Oracle is expected to report solid results; Thomson Reuters has estimates of $0.49 EPS and $8.66 billion in revenues. However, analysts are less confident in Research in Motions earnings, citing stiff competition from Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).
