The worst performing sector as of midday Friday is the Utilities sector, showing a 0.4% loss. Within that group, Exelon Corp (NASDAQ:EXC) and Public Service Enterprise Group Inc (NYSE:PEG) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 1.4% and 1.2%, respectively. Among utilities ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE:XLU), which is down 0.6% on the day, and up 20.68% year-to-date. Exelon Corp, meanwhile, is up 7.13% year-to-date, and Public Service Enterprise Group Inc is up 19.35% year-to-date. Combined, EXC and PEG make up approximately 9.0% of the underlying holdings of XLU.

The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, showing a 0.3% loss. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, CenturyLink Inc (NYSE:CTL) and Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:AVGO) are the most notable, showing a loss of 4.5% and 2.5%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which is down 0.6% in midday trading, and up 32.00% on a year-to-date basis. CenturyLink Inc, meanwhile, is down 9.80% year-to-date, and Broadcom Inc is up 17.40% year-to-date. AVGO makes up approximately 2.1% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
