Interesting VXX Put And Call Options For February 28th

Investors in Ipath Series B Standard and Poors 500 Vix Short-term Futures Etn (AMEX:VXX) saw new options begin trading today, for the February 28th expiration. The put contract at the $14.00 strike price has a current bid of $1.20. If an investor was to sell-to-open that put contract, they are committing to purchase the stock at $14.00, but will also collect the premium, putting the cost basis of the shares at $12.80 (before broker commissions). To an investor already interested in purchasing shares of VXX, that could represent an attractive alternative to paying $14.42/share today.
