Noteworthy Wednesday Option Activity: LEN, MPC, IBM

Looking at options trading activity among components of the S&P 500 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Lennar Corp (NYSE:LEN), where a total volume of 29,266 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 2.9 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 113.5% of LEN's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.6 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $85 strike call option expiring March 19, 2021, with 7,562 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 756,200 underlying shares of LEN. Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:MPC) options are showing a volume of 64,449 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 6.4 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 105.6% of MPC's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 6.1 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $50 strike call option expiring April 16, 2021, with 31,910 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 3.2 million underlying shares of MPC. And International Business Machines Corp (NYSE:IBM) options are showing a volume of 45,292 contracts thus far today. Particularly high volume was seen for the $150 strike call option expiring March 19, 2021, with 5,146 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 514,600 underlying shares of IBM.
