The worst performing sector as of midday Tuesday is the Healthcare sector, higher by 1.1%. Within that group, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRTX) and DaVita Inc (NYSE:DVA) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 5.7% and 4.6%, respectively. Among healthcare ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE:XLV), which is up 0.8% on the day, and up 2.61% year-to-date. Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., meanwhile, is down 7.47% year-to-date, and DaVita Inc, is down 3.45% year-to-date. Combined, VRTX and DVA make up approximately 1.5% of the underlying holdings of XLV.
The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, up 1.4%. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, Qorvo Inc (NASDAQ:QRVO) and Juniper Networks Inc (NYSE:JNPR) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.2% and 1.9%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which is up 1.4% in midday trading, and up 3.06% on a year-to-date basis. Qorvo Inc, meanwhile, is up 7.85% year-to-date, and Juniper Networks Inc is up 7.91% year-to-date. Combined, QRVO and JNPR make up approximately 0.3% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
