Notable Monday Option Activity: MCF, LGND, CZR

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Contango Oil & Gas Co. (MCF), where a total volume of 5,851 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 585,100 underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 75.2% of MCF's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 778,475 shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $6 strike call option expiring July 16, 2021, with 5,109 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 510,900 underlying shares of MCF. Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:LGND) saw options trading volume of 1,325 contracts, representing approximately 132,500 underlying shares or approximately 74.5% of LGND's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 177,965 shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $170 strike call option expiring May 21, 2021, with 1,205 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 120,500 underlying shares of LGND. And Caesars Entertainment Inc (NASDAQ:CZR) options are showing a volume of 37,554 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 3.8 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 73.4% of CZR's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 5.1 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $96 strike call option expiring April 23, 2021, with 5,265 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 526,500 underlying shares of CZR.
