Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Cree Inc (CREE), where a total volume of 10,911 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 1.1 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 65.3% of CREE's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 1.7 million shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $115 strike call option expiring May 21, 2021, with 4,366 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 436,600 underlying shares of CREE. Schrodinger Inc (NASDAQ:SDGR) options are showing a volume of 4,369 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 436,900 underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 65% of SDGR's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 672,310 shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $80 strike call option expiring May 21, 2021, with 2,667 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 266,700 underlying shares of SDGR.
