Notable Thursday Option Activity: CC, ALDX, FB

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Chemours Co (NYSE:CC), where a total volume of 12,374 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 1.2 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 125.1% of CC's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 988,805 shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $15 strike call option expiring January 21, 2022, with 5,721 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 572,100 underlying shares of CC. Aldeyra Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ALDX) saw options trading volume of 6,861 contracts, representing approximately 686,100 underlying shares or approximately 124.5% of ALDX's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 550,905 shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $12.50 strike call option expiring December 17, 2021, with 3,000 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 300,000 underlying shares of ALDX. And Facebook Inc (FB) options are showing a volume of 180,972 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 18.1 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 121.2% of FB's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 14.9 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $362.50 strike call option expiring August 13, 2021, with 14,721 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 1.5 million underlying shares of FB.
