Noteworthy Monday Option Activity: COST, GM, AVGO

Looking at options trading activity among components of the S&P 500 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ:COST), where a total volume of 17,900 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 1.8 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 108.1% of COST's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 1.7 million shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $460 strike call option expiring August 27, 2021, with 1,125 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 112,500 underlying shares of COST. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) options are showing a volume of 170,812 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 17.1 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 92.8% of GM's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 18.4 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $48 strike call option expiring August 27, 2021, with 7,372 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 737,200 underlying shares of GM. And Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:AVGO) options are showing a volume of 8,936 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 893,600 underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 81.3% of AVGO's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 1.1 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $450 strike put option expiring September 17, 2021, with 684 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 68,400 underlying shares of AVGO.
