Notable Friday Option Activity: FCX, INTC, DIS

Among the underlying components of the S&P 500 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold (NYSE:FCX), where a total of 117,712 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 11.8 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 74.4% of FCX's average daily trading volume over the past month of 15.8 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $40 strike call option expiring October 15, 2021, with 16,763 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 1.7 million underlying shares of FCX. Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) saw options trading volume of 129,518 contracts, representing approximately 13.0 million underlying shares or approximately 72% of INTC's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 18.0 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $55 strike call option expiring September 17, 2021, with 9,776 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 977,600 underlying shares of INTC. And Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS) options are showing a volume of 57,300 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 5.7 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 65% of DIS's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 8.8 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $187.50 strike call option expiring September 10, 2021, with 10,419 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 1.0 million underlying shares of DIS.
