Among the underlying components of the S&P 500 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), where a total of 169,464 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 16.9 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 59% of T's average daily trading volume over the past month of 28.7 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $27 strike put option expiring November 19, 2021, with 26,871 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 2.7 million underlying shares of T. Below is a chart showing T's trailing twelve month trading history, with the $27 strike highlighted in orange:
American Express Co. (NYSE:AXP) saw options trading volume of 18,040 contracts, representing approximately 1.8 million underlying shares or approximately 51.8% of AXP's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 3.5 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $160 strike call option expiring September 03, 2021, with 1,830 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 183,000 underlying shares of AXP. And Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc (NYSE:HLT) options are showing a volume of 9,913 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 991,300 underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 50.6% of HLT's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.0 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $125 strike call option expiring November 19, 2021, with 2,606 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 260,600 underlying shares of HLT.
