Noteworthy Friday Option Activity: MCD, PXD, IP

Among the underlying components of the S&P 500 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in McDonald's Corp (NYSE:MCD), where a total of 12,422 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 1.2 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 47.7% of MCD's average daily trading volume over the past month of 2.6 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $245 strike call option expiring September 24, 2021, with 1,801 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 180,100 underlying shares of MCD. Pioneer Natural Resources Co (NYSE:PXD) saw options trading volume of 9,067 contracts, representing approximately 906,700 underlying shares or approximately 46.4% of PXD's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.0 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $175 strike call option expiring November 19, 2021, with 1,004 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 100,400 underlying shares of PXD. And International Paper Co (NYSE:IP) saw options trading volume of 9,504 contracts, representing approximately 950,400 underlying shares or approximately 45.7% of IP's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.1 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $55 strike call option expiring October 15, 2021, with 5,251 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 525,100 underlying shares of IP.
