Among the underlying components of the S&P 500 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), where a total of 1.2 million contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 115.2 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 166% of AAPL's average daily trading volume over the past month of 69.4 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $157.50 strike call option expiring September 10, 2021, with 162,968 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 16.3 million underlying shares of AAPL. Facebook Inc (FB) options are showing a volume of 132,314 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 13.2 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 131.6% of FB's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 10.1 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $380 strike call option expiring September 10, 2021, with 22,931 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 2.3 million underlying shares of FB.
