Noteworthy Wednesday Option Activity: APLS, UPS, DY

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Apellis Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:APLS), where a total volume of 9,050 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 905,000 underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). Particularly high volume was seen for the $200 strike call option expiring September 17, 2021, with 4,261 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 426,100 underlying shares of UPS. And Dycom Industries, Inc. (NYSE:DY) saw options trading volume of 2,429 contracts, representing approximately 242,900 underlying shares or approximately 91.2% of DY's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 266,320 shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $70 strike call option expiring September 17, 2021, with 320 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 32,000 underlying shares of DY.
