Notable Thursday Option Activity: STLD, AMR, TREE

Among the underlying components of the Russell 3000 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Steel Dynamics Inc. (NASDAQ:STLD), where a total of 8,845 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 884,500 underlying shares. That amounts to about 58% of STLD's average daily trading volume over the past month of 1.5 million shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $120 strike call option expiring February 17, 2023, with 1,563 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 156,300 underlying shares of STLD. Alpha Metallurgical Resources Inc (NYSE:AMR) saw options trading volume of 1,378 contracts, representing approximately 137,800 underlying shares or approximately 57.8% of AMR's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 238,240 shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $150 strike put option expiring February 17, 2023, with 829 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 82,900 underlying shares of AMR. And LendingTree Inc (NASDAQ:TREE) saw options trading volume of 1,585 contracts, representing approximately 158,500 underlying shares or approximately 57.5% of TREE's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 275,725 shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $30 strike put option expiring March 17, 2023, with 626 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 62,600 underlying shares of TREE.
