Investors received a bit of good news this morning, as the April retail sales report showed a 0.1% increase. Many had expected the report to show a decrease, causing the US markets to reverse course.
Good morning this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for May 13, 2013.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by about 1.2% and the Hang Seng was lower by about 1.4%. The FTSE 100 was flat this morning as was the German DAX.
On the earnings front, Agilent Technologies (NYSE:A) reports on Tuesday, Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) reports on Wednesday, and Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) and Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) report on Thursday.
In economic news, Crude Inventories come out on Wednesday, CPI data and Housing Starts come out Thursday and Consumer Sentiment comes out Friday.
