In trading on Wednesday, metals & mining shares were relative laggards, down on the day by about 3.4%. Helping drag down the group were shares of Peabody Energy (NYSE:BTU), off about 24.7% and shares of Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE:ANR) down about 10.6% on the day.
Also lagging the market Wednesday are oil & gas exploration & production shares, down on the day by about 3.3% as a group, led down by Comstock Resources (NYSE:CRK), trading lower by about 15.6% and Paragon Offshore (NYSE:PGN), trading lower by about 11.4%.
