Loews (NYSE:L) posted a third-quarter profit of $469 million, or $1.08 per share from continuing operations, as compared to a loss of $144 million, or 33 cents per share, in the same quarter last year.
This quarter’s earnings beat analyst expectations, on revenues that increased about 25 percent, to $3.7 billion.
The conglomerate’s holding include commercial insurer CNA Financial (NYSE:CNA) as well as hotel and energy businesses.
