Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS) is expected to complete its $4.2 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment (MVL) this week.
The cash and stock deal will add characters like Iron Man and Spiderman to Disney’s stable of VIP’s, which already includes the likes of Mickey Mouse and Hannah Montana.
The deal is a 40 percent premium over Marvel’s stock in August, when the deal was announced.
There are more than 5,000 characters in the Marvel library, ripe for Disney to develop and turn into the next great franchise.
Disney shares are trading up over one percent on Tuesday morning.
