For the first time in its history, BP produced more oil and gas than rival ExxonMobil.
CEO Tony Hayward earned a salary of 4.01 million pounds in 2009, a 41 percent increase over what he earned in 2008.
Profits for 2009, however, dropped 45 percent.
The company reported a 4 percent rise in crude production in 2009, and blamed the drop in profits on lower oil prices. The company pointed out that for the year, BP shares beat the performance of Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil, and Chevron.
