Shares of Ruddick are up about 13.3%.

ResMed (NYSE:RMD) posted record revenue and income for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Revenue came in at $278.7 million, a 22% increase over the quarter ended March 31, 2009. Income from operations was $61.2 million and net income was $48.8 million, an increase of 16% and 25%, respectively. Diluted EPS were $0.63, an increase of 24%, and beat analyst expectations.

ResMed is trading higher by about 13.5%.

CommScope (CTV) was upgraded today by Robert W. Baird from neutral to outperform.

Despite the fact that the company's loss widened, CommScope provided an outlook for the second quarter of revenue between $800 and $850 million and adjusted operating income between $90 and $110 million.

Shares of CommScope are up about 8.3%.

Dolby Laboratories (NYSE:DLB) posted total revenue of $243.4 million, compared to $204.1 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2009, an increase of 19 percent.

Second quarter GAAP net income was $85.9 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, compared to $69.5 million, or $0.60 per diluted share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2009. The $0.74 was higher than analysts were expecting, and today shares of Dolby are higher by more than 8%.

City National Corporation (NYSE:CYN) reported first-quarter 2010 net income of $15.7 million, up 110 percent from $7.5 million in the first quarter of 2009. Net income available to common shareholders was $10 million, or $0.19 per share, up from $2.0 million, or $0.04 per share, in the first quarter of 2009.

Shares of City National are up nearly 8%.

Mettler-Toledo International (NYSE:MTD) posted EPS of $1.10, compared with the prior-year amount of $1.00. Adjusted EPS was $1.13, compared with the prior-year amount of $0.95. Sales came in at $416.7 million, a 6% increase in local currency, compared with $374.1 million in the prior year. Reported sales growth was 11%, which included a 5% currency benefit.

Mettler-Toledo shares are up 6.7%.

Acme Packet (APKT) posted revenue for the first quarter of $51.1 million, compared to $31.0 million in the first quarter of 2009 and $41.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Net income on a non-GAAP basis for the first quarter of 2010 was $10.7 million, or $0.16 per share on a diluted basis, beating analyst expectations.

Shares of Acme Packet are up about 23.5%.

Coinstar (NASDAQ:CSTR) announced revenue for the first quarter of $350.1 million, an increase of 46.6% compared with revenue of $238.8 million in the first quarter of 2009.

Net income was $6.4 million, or $0.21 per diluted share. This is compared with $2.0 million, or $0.07 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2009.

Coinstar is higher by over 22.5% so far today.

Thoratec (NASDAQ:THOR) said today revenues for the first quarter of 2010 increased 36 percent versus a year ago. Non-GAAP net income came in at $18.4 million, or $0.29 per diluted share, versus non-GAAP net income of $13.8 million, or $0.22 per diluted share, in the first quarter a year ago.

Shares of Thoratec are up about 20%.
