AK Steel (NYSE:AKS) was upgraded by Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) from neutral to buy as the decline in iron ore prices should help strengthen margins at the steel company. With the upgrade, Goldman set a price target of $17 per share.
Shares of AK Steel are up more than 6.5% so far today.
Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:KERX) today announced that perifosine has received Orphan Drug designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system affecting mostly children and infants for which there are no FDA approved therapies.
On the news, Keryx is up more than 15%.
On about 1.1 million shares traded so far, Provident Energy Trust (PVX) is seeing shares gain, currently higher by more than 7.5%.
Entree Gold (AMEX:EGI) is trading heavy volume today and seeing shares up more than 8.25%.
