Japan Airlines submitted its plan for emerging from bankruptcy in a Tokyo court today.
The airline will cut 49 routes, as well as retire more than 100 aircraft to reduce the number of plans it flies.
The plan is expected to improve profit margins and profits by March 2013.
The company is also considering starting a low-cost airline.
Delta (NYSE:DAL) and American Airlines (AMR) had been vying for an alliance with the company in exchange for an investment before it declared bankruptcy.
