Novell (NOVL) posted earnings late Thursday for its fiscal third quarter that came up short of analyst expectations.
The business software maker said profits totaled $15.7 million, or $0.04 per share, compared to $16.7 million, or $0.05 per share, in the same quarter last year.
Revenue totaled $199 million, compared to $216 million in the same quarter last year.
Revenue was below the company’s initial expectations, Novell said, on customer uncertainty related to its board’s ongoing reviews of alternatives, which could include selling the company, announced in March.
Also after the bell Thursday, data storage company Netezza (NZ) posted better than expected earnings of $3.2 million, or $0.05 per share, compared to $730,000, or $0.01 per share, in the same quarter last year.
Revenue was up 45%, to $63.8 million.
Revenue and adjusted earnings per share, at $0.09, both beat analyst expectations.
