Deere & Co. (NYSE:DE) posted a surge in fiscal third quarter earnings today, of $617 million, or $1.44 per share, compared to $420 million, or $0.99 per share, in the same quarter last year. Revenue was up 16%, to $6.84 billion. Results were well ahead of analyst forecasts, but Deere's outlook for the fourth quarter fell short of Wall Street expectations. Deere said it is looking for $375 million in net income for the fourth quarter. Deere shares are trading down 0.5% Wednesday.
Also Wednesday, money manager Eaton Vance (NYSE:EV) posted fiscal third quarter earnings of $41.8 million, or $0.34 per share, compared to $31.2 million, or $0.25 per share, in the same quarter last year. Total revenue rose 20%, to $273.1 million, as assets under management increased 21% vs. last year, to $173.3 million. Eaton Vance shares are trading down 3.4% Wednesday.
