Keep an eye on shares of pharma company Santarus (SNTS) today. The company and its Italian partner, Cosmo Pharmaceuticals, announced positive results of a phase 3 study of Budesonide MMX yesterday.
The trial for treating ulcerative colitis met its primary goal of remission after eight weeks of use, compared to a placebo.
Santarus said that results from a similar study in Europe are expected in November, and if those results are positive, the company will submit a new drug application in the second half of 2011.
Also late yesterday, medical waste management company Stericycle (NASDAQ:SRCL) said it has agreed to acquire Healthcare Waste Solutions from Altaris Capital Partners for $245 million in cash.
