David Westin is resigning as president of ABC News, which is owned by Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS).
Westin will stay through the end of the year. He told employees in an email that there are other things he wants to do professionally.
Media reports suggested the departure was due to conflict between company management and ABC News’ financial situation. ABC recently restructured its news organization, although rivals at CBS (NYSE:CBS) and GE’s (NYSE:GE) NBC have made similar moves.
The news networks evening news programs as well as morning news programs are frequently compared regarding ratings.
