Burger King Holdings (BKC) and 3G Capital today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which affiliates of 3G Capital will acquire the stock of the Company for $24.00 per share, or $4.0 billion, including the assumption of the Company’s outstanding debt.
Shares of Burger King are higher by 24.25%.
On relatively average volume, shares of China Distance Education (NYSE:DL) are trading up 23% today.
Harry Winston Diamond Corporation (NYSE:HWD) (TSE:HW.CA) said consolidated sales were $153.7 million for the quarter compared to $94.8 million for the comparable quarter of the prior year, resulting in a 135% increase in gross margin and earnings from operations of $28.9 million, compared to a loss from operations of $3.9 million in the comparable quarter of the prior year.
Harry Winston shares are up 18.7%.
Pier 1 Imports (NYSE:PIR) had comparable store sales growth of 11.2% versus last year’s decline of 7.6%. Earnings per share are estimated to be in a range of $0.10 to $0.12.
