Costco (NASDAQ:COST) beat analyst expectations today with August same-store sales growth of 7%.
Excluding gasoline, same-store sales rose 5%, and overall net sales rose 9.3% vs. last year, to $5.9 billion.
Meantime, BJ’s Wholesale Club (BJ) posted same-store sales that fell below analyst forecasts, at a 2.4% increase. Excluding gasoline, sales rose 1.9%, and net sale increase 4.9% compared to last August, to $794.6 million.
