The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Basic Materials Sector Index Fund ETF (AMEX:IYM) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Friday, with over 2.5 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 772,000. Shares of IYM were up about 0.2% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Friday were Alcoa (NYSE:AA), trading up about 0.7% with over 30.8 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Freeport-mcmoran Copper & GO (NYSE:FCX), up about 1.3% on volume of over 8.9 million shares. Coeur Dalene Mines (NYSE:CDE) is the component faring the best Friday, up by about 3.3% on the day, while Steel Dynamics (NASDAQ:STLD) is lagging other components of the iShares Dow Jones U.S. Basic Materials Sector Index Fund ETF, trading relatively unchanged.
