A Merck (NYSE:MRK) senior executive says the pharma giant is planning two new drug launches in India in the first half of 2011.
Merck’s president of Asia-Pacific Human Health told reporters at the India Economic Summit that the company will release a vaccine for rotavirus and a cardiovascular drug in India, and may also be looking for a strategic partnership there.
Other drug companies have recently expanded their operations in India with partnerships to take advantage of the massive, growing population there, including Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:ABT) and Pfizer (NYSE:PFE).
